AgileBI
As a BI Practitioner
I want to understand what AgileBI is and how it differs to Agile
So that I know what approaches to use (and which approaches not to)
When deliverying new Data, Analytics or Content in an AgileBI you have the benfit of leveraging the majority of the Agile approaches that have been defined and refined over the many years the various Agile approaches have been around.
But some of these some of these Agile approaches need to be tailored when delivering Data, Analytics and Content. This is typically due to the complexity that comes with data we do not create or control. AgileBI delivery is different to the typical “APP” development where the developer has control of both the way data is captured and the way it is presented.
For example I have found that using three weeks as a sprint iteration is more effective than the standard two weeks.
The articles below provide more details on the differences and the recommended techniques for deliverying in an AgileBI way.

SAS 9.2 not supported on Windows 2008 R2 – yet!
Just found out Windows 2008 R2 is not currently supported for SAS 9.2, but it seems to work on the test install I did.
Making Reports Faster
We are using a combination of SAS Web Report Studio, for report creation/rendering and an Oracle database for data storage. When users run reports, they effectively invoke this process: Connect to metadata and obtain authorisation Access info map and generate query...
Enterprise Information Management and Reporting Strategy
Starting work on a business case for an Enterprise Information Management and Reporting Strategy. Similiar to a BI Strategy but needs to include unstructured data management as well as lot more focus on people and process than BI reporting tools.
SAS Channels
Setting up channels so that we can publish content to users without the need to store it on the filesystem. Using Webdav as the storage mechanism. Using custom DI code node to create content and publish as part of our standard ETL process flows.
Test Install of SAS 9.2 on Windows 2008
Doing a test install of SAS 9.2 on Windows 2008 R2, with Weblogic 10.3. We have decided to do the install without the STM Solutions layer to make the install easier as we only want to test migration of BI and DI content.
Moving SAS users as part of 9.2 Migration
Need to migrate users from the old SAS 9.1 environment, but the client has so few users in metadata that we will manually recreate them.
Reporting Maturity Model
We really like the idea of staggering a roll-out of BI capability within organisations. From our point of view it enables some value to be (relatively) quickly delivered to the business, without them having to wait 1-2 years for the full blown solution. However the...
