Shane writes an AgileBI series called “3 AgileBI Things” published on LinkedIN Pulse. This article below is a copy of “3. AgileBI Things – 2017-02-05“. Shane also writes on AgileBI concepts at AgileBI Guru.

1. Managing Technical Debt

Technical Debt will slow your AgileBI team down almost as fast as Business As Usual (BAU) bleed.

While you can never remove technical debt fully, you need to manage it carefully. Great post from Agile guru Scott Ambler with some suggestions on how.

2. Agile Techniques

This article from TimeXtender recommends a couple of the same techniques I do to help the adoption of AgileBI.

  • Pick a sexy deliverable at the beginning to get buy-in from users (that also means no big data builds upfront)
  • Put the T-Skills team together on day one, including the business experts (Product Owner and Feature Owner)
  • Automate as much as you can to make the team faster (and safer)

3. BEAM Modelstorming and Data Vault

I am not the only one in the world that has seen the power and Agility a BI team will get by combining BEAM and Data Vault techniques.

Daniel Upton has a great SlideShare deck that provides his views.
